MBJ Airports Limited invites applications for the position of: FIREFIGHTER

The Firefighter performs duties in the fire services area of assignment and airport operations. Duties include: 

• Responding to aircraft emergencies and fires occuring on airport property;
• Performing various inspections inclduing airfield, ARFF equipment, fuel farm, fire extinguishers and hydrants, facilities;
• Firefighter also undertakes the care and operationof firefighting appliances and equipment to provide protection for all airport users and property
• Is accountable for the accurate and timely relay and recording of information during a tour of duty, while fulfilling support roles to other operational divisions

Qualifications and Experience:

• Five (5) GCE ordinary level passes or CXC proficiency level certification in the following subjects to include English Language, Mathematics, a Science subject and two (2) other subjects
• Minimum of one (1) year structured work experience in Fire Rescue and Emergency Services, the Security Forces or the Safety and Security division of a large industrial organization
• Valid open driver's license

Specific Knowledge Required:

• Sound Knowledge of aircraft materials and construction, emergency reponse, types of fire and firefighting equipment agents and techniques
• Sound knowledge of airport layout and topography
• Sound knowledge of the Aviation Safety  and Airside Operations
• Working knowledge of rescue boat operations and marine rescue techniques
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions
• Displayed knowledge of types of extinguishing agents and their application
• Training in First Aid/CPR and aspects of aviation security
• Working knowledge of airport Safety Management Systems
