Duties
Operation of heavy equipment for summer and winter road maintenance; conducts highway/road/street clearing and snow removal using medium, heavy and specialized vehicles and equipment requiring air-brake endorsement; and performs ancillary roadway maintenance and labour services for the Parks Canada Agency.Work environment
Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.Intent of the process
This process is intended to fill one term full time position to March 2020 and a second full time term position, becoming full time indeterminate in June 2018.This process may be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels or linguistic requirements in same or other parts of the country.

EXPERIENCE
• Recent experience in operating large and heavy diesel and gasoline-powered tracked and tired vehicles and equipment such as: grader, bulldozer, speed plows, loaders, backhoe, street sweeper and diesel trucks used in the maintenance and construction of roads and highways;
• Experience in various excavations such as culvert replacement, water and sewer repair or replacement;
• Experience in the operation of a grader providing year round routine road maintenance.
Recent is defined as actively participating in the trade in the past two years.
