About the Agency

This position is part of the National Background Investigations Bureau, Office of Personnel Management. If selected, you will be responsible for performing a variety of technical and administrative duties in support of the program. Local travel and interaction with the public will be required at times to conduct record checks.

This position is also being announcement under the Agency's Merit Promotion Plan to federal employees and non-competitive appointment eligible. If you wish to be considered under Merit Promotion or Non-Competitive procedures, you MUST apply under the Merit Promotion announcement, 17-238-SWA-MP.

Duties

As a Investigative Assistant at the GS-1802-5, some of your typical work assignments may include under supervision:
  • Perform administrative duties to assist the Supervisory Investigator and operations of the office.
    Conduct record checks.
  • Review a variety of records for suitability and personnel security purposes.
  • Prepare Reports of Investigation (ROI) summarizing information and stating pertinent facts.
  • Assist investigators who are conducting personnel background investigations for security clearance and/or suitability for employment.
  • Enter and track data in the Personnel Investigations Processing System.

Travel Required

  • Occasional Travel
  • You may be expected to travel for this position.
