This is an anticipatory process that may be used to staff various GS STS 03 and GS STS 04 positions within the Department of National Defence across Canada.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Some essential and other qualifications will be assessed through your application. It is your responsibility to provide appropriate examples that illustrate how you meet each qualification. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Degree equivalency
Experience providing stores or supply services

Experience using Microsoft Office applications
Depending on the position being staffed, any of the qualifications below may be deemed as an essential qualification “must have” or an asset qualification “nice to have”:

Possession of a valid and unrestricted motor vehicle driver’s license issued by a Canadian province or territory*
*You may be required to provide an up-to-date and acceptable driver’s abstract if you are considered for appointment.

Experience working in a warehouse, shipping environment or distribution centre

Experience in repair or disposal

Experience in stocking stores

Experience in inventory management

Experience in shipping and receiving goods

Experience providing customer service in a warehouse setting

Experience operating a forklift

Experience operating a pallet jack

Experience operating a stock picker

Experience using SAP based applications

Experience in the procurement of goods

Experience in the transportation of dangerous goods

Experience in the storage of dangerous goods

Experience working in a supply chain context

Experience working with hazardous materials

Experience in handling and accounting of IT or telecommunications equipment

Experience in handling and accounting of medical supplies

Experience in handling Time and Temperature Sensitive Pharmaceutical Products (TTSPP)

Experience interpreting federal and provincial legislation governing the handling or storage or disposal of material

Experience in using Opportunities & Purchasing Exchange Network (O&PEN)

Experience handling and storing food products

Experience in the securing and storage of firearms or other weapons

Experience working in an accommodations setting (such as barracks or quarters)

Experience in identifying and issuing repair parts for vehicles

Experience in identifying and issuing tools used in a maintenance or mechanical environment

Experience in serially numbered material control

Experience in the handling and accounting of petroleum, oils and lubricants

Experience completing and maintaining supply records

Experience using the Defence Supply Chain (DSC) (formerly called the Canadian Forces Supply System (CFSS)).

Experience working with DND Local Purchase Orders (LPOs)

Experience maintaining a DND Supply Customer Account (SCA)

Conditions of employment

Various Security Levels: Reliability, Secret and/or Top Secret

Depending on the position being staffed, one or more of the following may be required:

Willing and able to work overtime

Willing and able to travel to attend training

Will be required to wear safety footwear at all times and occasionally other protective clothing such as a hard hat, gloves, smocks, dust masks, goggles, etc.

Will be required to perform a variety of physical tasks, including but not limited to, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping, crouching, and sitting.

Will be required to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Able to safely lift up to heavy items up to 20 kilograms

May be required to work shiftwork (day and night and may include weekends)

Other conditions of employment may be required for some positions. These conditions will be communicated to the candidates considered for that specific appointment.

In addition to answering the screening questions, you must provide your resume. A cover letter is not required and will not be reviewed if provided.

At the time of application, you will also be required to provide the names of two (2) work references who can speak to your performance in detail. These references must be recent supervisors or managers. Character references will not be accepted.

Screening questions have also been built into the application process related to interest in English Essential, French Essential, or Bilingual positions. You will not be canvassed for interest based on language profile at a later date.
