About the Position:
This position is Term Not To Exceed 1 year, and may be extended up to a maximum of six years.
This position will be filled at the GS-04, GS-05,or GS-06 level, noncompetitive promotion to the full performance level is authorized.
As aTransportation assistant, you will be responsible for the following:
-Advise on entitlement or procedures related to temporary storage of goods, weight allowances, prohibited items and shipment of unaccompanied baggage, privately owned vehicles and household goods.
-Prepare cost estimates, maintain records of lot storage, weight allowances to assist customer in determining the best method of movement.
-Determine carriers and arrange for the pickup, delivery and storage of personal property.

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the Education and/or Specialized Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Minimum Qualifications GS-04:
To qualify at the GS-04 level, you must have completed 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate degree (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification).
Specialized Experience GS-05:
To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as:clearing inbound shipments for disposition; providing for expedient delivery to customers; and verifying charges associated with the handling and delivery of inbound shipments; screens orders for correct appropriation/authorization for shipment.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-05:
Successful completion of four academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification). Combination of Experience and Education Substitution:
You may substitute specialized experience at the GS-05 level with a combination of experience and education as described above. If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. then divide your semester hours of post-high school education by 120. Add the two percentages. The total percentage.
Specialized Experience GS-06:
To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as assist in providing information to military/civilian personnel regarding receipt of personal property; review documents such as applications/orders for accuracy; clearing inbound shipments for disposition; screens orders for correct appropriation/authorization for shipment; providing for expedient delivery of personal property to customers; verifying charges associated with the handling/delivery of inbound shipments.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Selective Placement Factor:
This position requires you to be a qualified typist, typing at least 40 words per minute (wpm) with three (3) or fewer errors based on a five (5) minute sample.
