This position may be filled at either GS-06 or GS-07 grade level, please indicate the grade for which you want to be considered. If selected at the lower grade level, incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the next grade level in the time frame allowed by regulations and upon management's request. Promotion is contingent upon satisfactory completion of required training, regulatory requirements and demonstrated ability to perform the duties. Promotion is not guaranteed or implied.
Duties
As a Human Resources Assistant (OA)
you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Provide recruitment and placement support services to HR Specialists.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding procedures for filing applications, status of recruitment announcements, various vacancies in the organization, and hiring procedures and announcements.
- Assist in registering employees in the Priority Placement Program (PPP) as well as local placement registration.
- Provide basic information to routine inquiries about options available to the employee regarding leave without Pay, resignation, termination, sponsor relocations, retirement, health and life insurance policies, unemployment compensation, and Thrift Savings Plan (TSP).
- Resolve recurring questions that can be satisfied by an explanation of basic human resources policies.
- Maintain office files adapted to meet the needs of the office (e.g., alphabetically by subject, project, geographic area, or other appropriate category.
- Perform a wide variety of record keeping, update manuals on policy and directives.
- Utilize personnel computer, word processing and/or other office automation equipment and various software programs to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve and print a variety of documents.
- Produce correspondence, memoranda, directives, forms, reports and create spreadsheets or databases.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of information, spelling, grammar, construction, punctuation and presence of necessary enclosures.
