Land Survey Technician (Kingston, Jamaica)

The ideal candidate should hold a BSc in Land Surveying or an Associate Degree in land Surveying and GIS.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Director, Bauxite Lands, the Land Survey Technician will have responsibility for:

• Carrying out exploration surveying assignments in bauxite areas with regard to reserve availability, tonnage sterilization
• Carrying out survey assignments in relation to property and land use investigations.
• Carrying out field investigations with regard to development control, restoration exercises, development plans, property leases and requests for the use of bauxite lands.
• Preparing relevant survey drawings
• Assisting in preparing and maintaining up-to-date reserve maps, land use, property maps, ownership and mining status maps for the divisionís land and reserves databases.

Qualifications:   
Competencies:

• One to three (1 to 3) years work experience using a range of survey equipment
• Experience with GPS data collection processes and survey techniques, other conventional survey methods and knowledge of accuracy standards
• Advanced cartographic skills with keen attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Arc/GIS, Computer Aided Design (CAD), programming (Visual Basics), Spreadsheet and Word Processing tasks
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Must possess a valid driver’s licence
