ICT Systems Technician (Kingston, Jamaica) - NMIA Airports Ltd.

NMIA Airports Limited (NMIAL), operator of the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA), a whooly owned subsidiary of the Airports Authority of Jamaica (AAJ), currently has employment opportunities for suitably qualified persons for the position of ICT SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN.

This position resides in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Department which has responsibility for the information and communications technology systems at NMIA and AAJ locations.

Scope of Responsibility:

Incumbents are required to provide support and administration for all the information technology applications and systems within the NMIAL and AAJ including, but not limited to: 

• Install and maintain computer hardware and software, network equipment and cabling infrastructure
• Perform system back-ups and data protection activities
• Provide solutions to problems with computers, servers, printers and peripherals and network equipment
• Provide technical support by responding to user problems with individual computer hardware and software systems, servers and operating systems on a daily basis
• Assist in evaluating new ICT technologies and make recommendations
• The incumbents will be required to work a 40 hour work week within a 5:00 am to 9:00 pm shift system, Sunday - Saturday

Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

• A tertiary diploma, associate or BSc degree in Computer Studies/Computer Science/Computer Engineering from a recognized tertiary institution or an equivalent ICT certification
• Two (2) years experience as an ICT systems support technician or in simialr capacity
• Excellent knowledge of computer hardware/software, network and PBX systems
• ICT troubleshooting skills
• Effective time management skills
• Effective problem solving and decision making skills
• Competent in report writing
• Well-developed interpersonal and communications skills
• Positive attitude
• Team player
• Possess a clean police record
