If you have clerical and customer service experience/knowledge and a desire to work in a park setting, consider this opportunity with Ontario Parks, as a Park Clerk for Arrowhead Provincial Park.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

• provide customer service to park users
• perform general clerical duties within the park
• assist with training, orientation and guidance of student employees
• perform revenue functions, cash handling, balancing and recording
• handle inventory, ordering, invoicing, projections, etc.
• utilize and maintain office equipment and operate common office software
• provide human resources related functions

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• must have a class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario
• must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid First Aid certificate
• must be willing and able to work shifts, evenings, weekends or holidays as required

Clerical experience:

• knowledge of standard office methods and procedures to provide clerical services to park staff including the park superintendent
• ability to utilize and maintain park office equipment and provide functions such as ordering, receiving, logging and maintaining a variety of assets and information using a variety of software and hardware

Communication and interpersonal skills:

• interpersonal and communication skills to convey information, discuss and resolve issues/complaints and to respond to inquiries in a courteous and professional manner
• knowledge of customer services standards, including in-person interactions, telephone operation and etiquette to respond to enquiries and assist customers as well as provide guidance to students in dealing with the public

Technical knowledge:

• knowledge of general sales, revenue and accounting practices in order to ensure accurate expenditure and revenue monitoring and reporting, marketing, and retailing methods and procedures, balancing cash flow, deposits and refunds within the park
• able to interpret and apply payroll policies and procedures to prepare and process documents for new and returning staff, collect and review timesheets to ensure entitlement and calculate seniority

Analytical and arithmetic skills:

• analytical skills to identify discrepancies, resolve issues and assess urgency of inquiry or situation and determine appropriate solution
• arithmetic skills to receive payments, balance cash flow, calculate sales projections, calculate seniority and research contributing factors to discrepancies

Organizational and planning skills:

• organizational, planning and coordinating skills to conduct or assist group leader/superintendent in ordering and maintaining inventory, processing and depositing revenue, arranging and preparing seasonal training, and maintenance of office equipment
