The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations & Rural Developments, Cascades Natural Resource District, Merritt, has an exciting opportunity for a Client Services Assistant.  As the Client Services Assistant, you provide customer service to our natural resource clients as well as office, financial and resource administration for the district.

A confident self-starter you perform your duties with a high degree of initiative, flexibility and efficiency.  This position requires an enthusiastic, client service oriented individual with the ability and initiative to manage a wide range of tasks in a fast paced environment.   As the first point of contact for the ministry and FrontCounter BC, you will be responsible to provide exceptional customer service to our clients, assisting them with the completion of a variety of natural resource applications.  A skilled communicator you have the capability to handle difficult or challenging customer requests.  You possess the ability to assess and address client problems and reference, interpret and apply a variety of policies and guidelines to determine the appropriate outcome.  If you are an individual that is highly organized, has a strong attention to detail and is a team player, we look forward to receiving your application!

Qualifications:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined in the attached Job Profile.
 

  • Diploma in office administration, business administration or communication and one (1) year of administrative experience or Grade 12 supplemented by related courses and three (3) years of administrative experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience gained within the last five (5) years.
  • Experience using computer systems (includes:  data entry, word processing and spreadsheets) and associated software programs such as:  Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Experience in providing services to various levels of government, industry, public and/or private organizations and individuals.
  • Experience in written and oral communication with the public, staff or other agencies.
 Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience servicing the general public in person and on the phone.
  • Experience dealing with cash transactions and other point of sale devices, credit cards or similar.
  • Experience interpreting legal documentation.
  • Experience in interpreting and explaining policies and/or regulations to clients/customers.
