New Report Reviewing Key Issues in Long-Term Services and Supports Quality

The Kaiser Family Foundation has released a new Report entitled “Key Issues in long-Term Services and Supports Quality”. The issue brief discusses four key issues related to long-term services and supports (LTSS) for Medicaid and Medicare providers, including: regulation of institutional and home and community-based services (HCBS) quality, current status of LTSS, unknown information about LTSS quality, and challenges in LTSS quality oversight. The report emphasizes that state health and social services agencies are primarily responsible for conducting the inspections and other monitoring of LTSS quality for providers such as assisted living communities. HCBS quality measures are being developed, which would support the reporting of more quality data nationally.
