Responsibilities
This position is organizationally aligned in the Patient Registration Area within Health Administration Service of the University Drive, of the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, Located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In regards of the Information Receptionist you will provide consists tasks that are clear cut and directly related in little discretion in deciding what needs to be done.
Major duties and responsibilities are:
Receives and directs visitors in the main lobby of the facility in an interactive positive manner;
Provides information about the organization, its functions activities and programs;
Provides safety practice, report unsafe conditions, broken equipment or occupational injuries to the supervisor of Patient Registration;
Assure availability of functioning wheelchairs and maintains proper storage and inventory of related equipment of this nature;
Understands the functionality of the Kiosks, and the ability to type, operate a computer, and use VISTA at a basic level;
Provides a full range of standard reference materials and directories as well as possess an understanding of were to seek information when confronted with issues not referenced;
Provides detailed guidelines covering all important aspects of each assignment.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized Financial Disclosure Report: Not Required
Designated and/or random drug testing may be required
Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
May be required to serve a probationary period.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: : Tour assignment is as assigned by the Supervisor Patient Registration. The work includes lifting, walking, pushing, stooping, reaching, standing, sitting, and bending. Proper body mechanics must be utilized. The employee must have the physical endurance necessary to assist in the transferring and transporting of patients within the Patient Registration area and to stand for periods in Registration assisting formatting. Veterans with seating and in the use of the self-check in machines (Kiosks). Work Environment: You may be exposed to combative or assaultive patients. Basic transport functions are performed in a hospital environment requiring normal safety measures and adherence to universal precautions. There is potential exposure to disease.
Qualifications
TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-2 LEVEL:
General Experience: You must have 3 months of general experience. General experience is the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position. You may have acquired this experience if you worked as a front desk person or receptionist, customer service representative, data entry clerk, or an office assistant in a clinic or medical setting.
You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position:
Technical Competence.
Manages and Organizes Information.
Customer Service.
IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education
