    Responsibilities

    This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-07. At the GS-05 and GS-06 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-07. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds.

    Employee will serve as a Human Resource (HR) Assistant (Information Systems) assigned to the Processing & Records Section of the Human Resources Management Service (HRMS) at the VA in Arbor Healthcare System, Ann Arbor, MI. Duties will include, but may not be limited to the following:
    • Processing and coding a full range of personnel actions into federal or state integrated systems;
    • Processing employee personnel actions and understands the appropriate forms needed based on the individual employee employment action;
    • counseling employees on subjects pertaining to all types of benefit coverage including health insurance, life insurance, Thrift Savings Plan, retirement and military buy back options;
    • Preparing recurring reports of processing and records for personal activities;
    • Conducting new employee orientation and providing guidance and instruction to newly assigned staff;
    • Reviews multiple automated systems to ensure data is consistent, accurate and complete;
    • Coordinating with payroll to resolve problems/implement changes;
    • Establishing and maintaining electronic Official Personnel Folders (eOPF);
    • Scans all new and required documents into individual eOPF;
    • Ensuring that all forms are appropriately scanned, filed and maintained; and
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
