Summary
The selectee for this position will serve as an AUDITOR for the NAVAUDSVC HQ WASHINGTON DC. The selectee can be assigned in any of the following Directorates: Energy, Installations, and Environment (EIE); Financial Management and Comptroller (FMC) ; Internal Controls and Investigative Support (ICIS); Manpower and Reserve Affairs (MRA); Research, Development, and Acquisition (RDA).
These positions are located at the Naval Audit Service (NAVAUDSVC) and Field Offices. The mission of the NAVAUDSVC is to carry out the internal audit responsibilities of the Secretary of the Navy by performing internal audits of Department of the Navy (DON) activities, functions, and programs, and issuing audit reports that describe conditions found and recommend corrective actions.
NAVAUDSVC is a forward-thinking organization of approximately 300 plus civilian employees. NAVAUDSVC provides senior leaders in the DON with audit reports to assist Navy and Marine Corps managers in efficiently fulfilling their responsibilities. These audit reports focus on identifying ways to efficiently manage the DON's multibillion dollar budget in order to improve the readiness of the Fleet.
This position has promotion potential to the GS-12 grade. If selected below the full performance level, incumbent may be noncompetitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements, and upon the recommendation of management. Promotion is neither implied nor guaranteed.
Vacancies filled from this announcement may be filled at the following grade levels: GS-07 and GS-09.

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
- You will work in team setting to complete audit reports for various Department of Navy (DON) programs, activities, and functions.
- With supervision and/or assistance, you will interpret applicable laws and regulations for subject audit area, and prepare working papers to document audit work.
- You will participate in discussing audit objectives, assignments, findings, and recommendations.
- You will provide information to management officials responsible for audited programs regarding management controls and procedures.
- With supervision, you will assist in the development of audit steps, approaches, and test for assigned areas of audits or programs, activities, procedures, and operations.
