To qualify for the Interdisciplinary Scientist position you must meet both the basic requirements and specialized experience as defined.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
For the Economist (0110)
A. Possess a bachelor's degree or higher in economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.
OR-
B. Have a combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
For the Physical Scientist (1301)
A. Possess a bachelor's degree or higher in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR -
B. Have a combination of education and experience, education equivalent to one of the majors shown in "A" above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
For the Operations Research Analyst (1515)
A. Possess a bachelor's degree or higher in operations research.
OR-
B. Have successfully completed a full four (4) year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (or higher) with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. Examples of acceptable courses: optimization; mathematical modeling; queuing theory; engineering; physics (except descriptive or survey courses); econometrics; psychometrics; biometrics; experimental psychology; physical chemistry; industrial process analysis; managerial economics; computer science; measurement for management; mathematical models in social phenomena; and courses that involved application of operations research techniques and methodologies to problems of management, marketing, systems design, and other specialized fields; or other comparable quantitative analysis courses for which college-level mathematics or statistics is a prerequisite.
In order to qualify for the GS-11 interdisciplinary position you MUST meet the following:
A) Have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level or equivalent 1) Performing research to collect critical infrastructure information; 2) Using appropriate techniques to identify and interpret interrelated factors impacting infrastructure; 3) Providing support to develop analysis of critical infrastructure 4) and Creating visual representations of analysis using data visualization software. NOTE: To qualify under this option, your resume must contain sufficient detail to prove you have one year experience performing these duties. Otherwise, you will be found ineligible.
--OR--
B) Have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D.; or successfully completed a Ph.D.; or equivalent degree, e.g., LL.M., at an accredited college or university in a field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your college transcripts (official or unofficial) to support your claim.
--OR--
C) Have less than one year of experience as described in A and less than 3 years of graduate level education as described in B. However, I have a combination of specialized experience and graduate level education beyond the Master's level that when combined, equals at least 100% of the total requirement.
In order to qualify for the GS-12 interdisciplinary position you MUST meet the following:
A)Have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent 1) Performing research to collect, analyze, and interpret critical infrastructure information and data; 2) Using appropriate techniques to identify and interpret interrelated factors impacting infrastructure; 3) Analyzing and preparing critical infrastructure data using defined processes. 4) Creating visual representations of analysis using data visualization software; 5) and providing recommendations for improvements to improve critical infrastructure security and resilience. NOTE: To qualify under this option, your resume must contain sufficient detail to prove you have one year experience performing these duties. Otherwise, you will be found ineligible.
In order to qualify for the GS-13 interdisciplinary position you MUST meet the following:
A)Have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent 1) Performing research to collect, analyze, and interpret critical infrastructure information and data; 2) Using appropriate techniques to identify and interpret interrelated factors impacting infrastructure; 3) Analyzing and preparing critical infrastructure data using defined processes. 4) Creating visual representations of analysis using data visualization software; and 5) providing technical reports for publication and correspondence related to the analysis of critical infrastructure. NOTE: To qualify under this option, your resume must contain sufficient detail to prove you have one year experience performing these duties. Otherwise, you will be found ineligible.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide
valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

Time-in-Grade
Current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade band in the federal service. The time-in-grade requirement must be met by closing date of this announcement.
Submit a copy of your most recent Notification of Personnel Action (SF-50) that demonstrates your eligibility for consideration, e.g., length of time you have been in your current/highest grade (examples of appropriate SF-50s include promotions, with-in grade/range increases); your current promotion potential; proof of permanent appointment if applying based on an interchange agreement; etc.

New employees must serve a one year probationary period.
Employees who are initially appointed to supervisory positions must serve a supervisory probationary period for one year.
Conditions of Employment:
- Security Clearance: This position will require a TS/SCI security clearance.
