Welcome to the Family, Morale,Welfare and Recreation Activities at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. We proudly serve Military Members, Retirees, DOD Civilians and Family members in the surrounding area.
Fort McCoy is located on 60,000 acres between Sparta and Tomah, WI. Since its creation in 1909, the post has been used primarily as a military training center. Fort McCoy is known as the Total Force Training Center because this installation supports the training and mobilization of reserve and active component military personnel from all branches of armed forces. The installation's varied terrain, state-of-the-art ranges, new as well as renovated facilities, supports our military personnel with an excellent environment in which to develop and sustain the skills necessary for their mission success.
McCoy's Community Center offers great dining and recreational opportunities for our Soldiers and their Families as well as retirees and the Civilian workforce. It's the place to be to watch all your favorite sporting events or kick back with a few friends. There are darts, pool tables, PlayStation and Xbox consoles/games, movies for rent, library books, laptops for check-out, etc. McCoy's Community Center has a sports bar, Primo's Express Restaurant, bowling center, banquet rooms, catering service, and an outdoor courtyard. Leisure Travel Services (LTS) is also located within McCoy's Community Center and is available to assist with discounted tickets to many attractions and theme parks. The LTS office can make cruise, vacation, car, and hotel reservations.
Announcement will have a first cutoff date of August 16, 2017 and applicants that submit a complete application packet prior to that date and found eligible will be given first consideration. This is an open continuous announcement to provide a ready pool of available applicants as a need for recruitment occurs. Applicants will be referred to selecting officials as vacancies occur.

Duties

MAJOR DUTIES:
Performing tasks that require attention to work operations in a kitchen or dining area. Prepares and combines fruits and vegetables for salads. Performs simple cooking by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing. Makes simple sandwiches and performs other simple food preparation. Responsible for proper slicing of deli meats and cheeses and cutting of fruits and vegetables for garnish. Operates a cash register. Cleans kitchen utensils, pots, pans, storage containers, as well as sweeping and mopping the floor. Restocks storeroom, walk in refrigerator/freezer, front line refrigerators, freezers, coolers, and dry goods.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Ability to follow oral instructions and o assigned repetitive tasks. Knowledge of sanitation standards is required as well as knowledge of procedures to prevent contamination. Must know basic food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards and safe work procedures. Must have ability to read and understand written material. Must have basic knowledge of basic arithmetic required in the handling of cash and determining the amount of portion required for a meal.
PHYSICAL EFFORTS:
Light to heavy physical effort is required. Frequently lifts and moves items weighing up to 40 pounds. Subject to continuous standing and walking and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. May be required to work on ladders and use powered cleaning equipment.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Work is usually performed indoors in areas that have adequate light and ventilation. May be exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, and hot working surfaces and extreme temperature changes when entering walk in refrigerators or freezing units.
