This position is located at Fort Hamilton's MWR Community Club.

The FMWR mission is to create and maintain "FIRST CHOICE" MWR products and services for America's Army, essential to a ready, self-reliant force.

Fort Hamilton FMWR is a comprehensive network of quality support and leisure services that enhances the lives of Soldiers, Civilians, Families, military retirees and other eligible participants. The FMWR's vision is to be the driving force for programs and services that provide the foundation for the Army's home by increasing Soldier and Family resiliency, restoring balance, enhancing recruitment, readiness and retention for Soldiers and Families.

Duties

• Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager.
• Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests.
• Responsible for lifeguarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility.
• Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies; rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required.

Key Requirements

Qualifications

1. A valid Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS) certification, AND
2. A valid American Red Cross Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional certification, AND
3. CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED) certification, AND
4. A valid First Aid Certification

Certificates may be uploaded at the time of application but MUST be made available at the time of interview for this qualification to be validated.

Conditions of Employment:
1. If selected, a completed and signed copy of our job application form (DA Form 3433) is required prior to entrance on duty. (Click here to view form).
2. Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
3. Lifeguards must have good vision (corrected vision if necessary) while on duty to effectively recognize all emergencies, incidents and rule breaking.
4. Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
5. May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
6. Work hours may involve weekend, weekdays, holidays and night duty.
7. Fifteen(15) year old lifeguards must comply with the restriction of the DOL Child Labors Law (Jan 17, 2006).
8. All required certifications must be kept current.
9. Physical examination is required.
