Every day, our Immigration Analysts (Asylum) interact with asylum applicants to elicit and provide valuable information; and ensure compliance with background checks and provide information to appropriate Asylum Officer staff for consideration in adjudication of asylum cases.
This position of IMMIGRATION ANALYST (ASYLUM) starts at a salary of $45,843 GS-07 grade level, to $72,901 GS-09 grade level, with promotion potential to GS-09 grade level.

Duties
The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence, and limited complexity.
As a IMMIGRATION ANALYST (ASYLUM), you will:
As a IMMIGRATION ANALYST (ASYLUM), you will:
- Determine whether the Asylum Division has jurisdiction by reviewing electronic and paper records, research applicable rules and procedures, and analyze appropriate information.
- Personally issue decisions to applicants for immigration benefits, including assembling and verifying the accuracy of required documents and reviewing decisions with the applicant to ensure understanding.
- Analyze and conduct research in USCIS paper and electronic records, as well as law enforcement and commercial databases according to USCIS background check policy and procedures and to ascertain immigration history and case status.
- Ensure that applicants have complied with all required background and biometric check procedures and provide information to appropriate Asylum Officer staff for consideration in the adjudication of asylum cases.
- Prepare documentation, create reports, organize records, and assemble databases.
- Interact with applicants for immigration benefits and their attorneys or representatives in a professional and courteous manner to obtain necessary information to provide adequate information and prepare cases for officer review.
