This position is located at Fort Hamilton's MWR Roll & Brew "Bowling & Entertainment Center".

Fort Hamilton FMWR is a comprehensive network of quality support and leisure services that enhances the lives of Soldiers, Civilians, Families, military retirees and other eligible participants. The FMWR's vision is to be the driving force for programs and services that provide the foundation for the Army's home by increasing Soldier and Family resiliency, restoring balance, enhancing recruitment, readiness and retention for Soldiers and Families.

Duties

• Performs a variety of routine manual tasks in a kitchen or dining area following established procedures. Sets up glasses, silverware, dishes, trays, napkins, condiments, and cold menu items such as salads, desserts, bread, and cold beverages on a serving line or tables.
• Removes dishes and trays from tables after meals. Washes tables and counters. Prepares food by sorting, washing, peeling, and cutting fresh fruit and vegetables. Operates, break downs, and cleans all equipment assigned to the area for food preparation.
• Clean kitchen equipment such as worktables, sinks and refrigerators. Separates food waste and trash from dishes, glasses, and silverware. Loads and operate dishwashers. Stores cleaned dishes, glasses and silverware. Vacuums and shampoos carpets; sweeps and mops kitchen floors. Cleans windows and washes walls. Cleans and sanitizes trash cans; disposes of trash.

Qualifications

1. Ability to understand and follow oral instructions and do simple tasks that are easy to learn.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

1. Must have knowledge of basic food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards and safe work procedures.
2. Must have the ability to perform routine manual tasks involving few steps, and be able to read and understand written material.
3. Must have knowledge of basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies: knowledge, skills, abilities, additional screening criteria and other characteristics.

HIGHLY PREFERRED

1. Have experience with preparing food in a restaurant/commercial environment.
