The HR Customer Services and Solutions group is currently accepting applications to fill up to (5) temporary positions at Gulf Islands National Seashore, Florida and Mississippi. Appointments made under this announcement are limited to 1039 hours (six months) in a service year and may be terminated at any time. Appointments under this announcement are eligible for rehire and/or extension (when initial appointment is less than 1039 hours) if workload and funding allow. Anticipated Entry on Duty: June, 2017.

Duties
Provide superior customer service and interpretation of the natural and cultural resources of the Park to diverse audiences. Present a variety of formal and informal programs including orientation talks, recreational and educational programs, conducted walks, living history programs and demonstrations. Inform visitors about park facilities and resources. Operate a variety of audiovisual and other equipment. Perform administrative duties as assigned.
Must be willing to be transported via boat and/or passenger ferry to and from barrier islands. Must be willing and able to lead kayaking, snorkeling and/or similar water craft and recreational programs. Must be a competent swimmer. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays. Must be able to obtain certification in, and provide, basic first aid, CPR and AED to the sick and injured.
Physical demands: Work involves extensive periods of standing and walking, in some cases over rough surfaces or inclines, carrying backpacks, tools, rescue equipment, etc.
Work Environment: Inside and outside, in settings in which there is regular exposure to moderate discomforts and unpleasantness such as high or low temperatures, confined spaces, adverse weather conditions, exposure to insects and high heat and humidity.
