This is a Recent Graduate position in the Pathways Program. Selected individuals are placed in a dynamic one year developmental program in the excepted service designed to lead to a civil service career in the Federal government. At the successful conclusion of this program, the agency may non-competitively convert individuals to a term or permanent position in the competitive service. Conversion to a Federal competitive service position will be at the discretion of the agency and is neither guaranteed nor implied.
Everyday, our Human Resources Assistants (Classification) provide clerical, technical and administrative support, and provide information and advice on the application of human resources rules, policies and procedures.
This position of Human Resources Assistant (Recent Graduate) starts at a salary of $35,030 GS-05 grade level, to $45,545 GS-05 grade level, with promotion potential to GS-08 grade level.

Duties
As a participant in the Pathways Recent Graduates Program, you will receive both formal and on-the-job training to develop the required knowledge and skill to successfully perform the duties of the position. Those duties will include:
- Assists Human Resources (HR) Specialists in providing the full range of classification services and position management advice; serves as the initial point of review on requests for personnel actions submitted to the Human Resources Operations Center.
- Performs basic classification for Agency positions located world-wide for a variety of General Schedule positions up to the GS-7 grade level, including preparing evaluation reports to substantiate decisions.
- Reviews the appropriate position classification standards and information about the organization, identifies classification issues and problems where the answers are not readily apparent, and responds to general questions from supervisors and employees regarding position classification procedures.
- Consults with supervisory officials to certify facts related to position descriptions
and/or corrects discrepancies in descriptions and organizational relationships. - Performs work involving the collection, compilation, and/or tracking of program data and statistical information in support of the Agency Classification program.
