About the Agency

OIG is organized into three line elements: the Offices of Investigations, Audits and Evaluations, and Healthcare Inspections; along with the Office of Contract Review and the Office of Management and Administration. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 30 cities throughout the country.

The Auditor, located in the Office of Contract Review, Washington, DC, is responsible for performing various review and audit functions involving procurement actions, including: (i) pre-award and post-award reviews of Federal Supply Service (FSS) contracts (ii) compliance reviews of drug pricing under Public Law 102-585 (Veterans Health Care Act of 1992); (iii) claims audits; (iv) pre-award reviews of proposals for buying health care resources, (v) pre-award reviews of construction related proposals; and (vi) other reviews and audits of other procurement areas and issues.

It is anticipated that there will be significant interest in the announcement. As a result, the announcement will close at 11:59 p.m. ET on the date of receipt of the 200th application or at 11:59 p.m. ET on DATE OF CLOSURE; whichever occurs first. Any required documents should be submitted at the time that you apply as documents will not be accepted after the vacancy closes.

Duties

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

•Perform duties and functions that are complex and require application of a variety of audit techniques, methodologies, and knowledge. Make decisions and take other actions that are relied upon by contracting officers making multi-million dollar contract awards. Apply professional accounting and auditing standards, and principles in performing duties.
•Develop project work plans that include scope, methodologies, schedules, work assignments, itineraries, and work-steps. Methodology and practices include extensive use of statistical sampling and computer-assisted techniques. Review work plans prepared by other staff.
•Develop findings by: (i) gathering, synthesizing, and analyzing data; (ii) defining and exploring problems; and (iii) formulating sound conclusions and recommendations.
•Prepare project working papers and ensure that documentation fully supports project results and complies with Contract Review requirements and professional standards. Review working papers prepared by other staff.

Travel Required

  • 25% or Greater
  • Frequently travel nationwide under tight deadlines. The incumbent should anticipate frequent walking and standing as a component of this travel.
