Duties
This position is located within the Network 3 Prosthetics Treatment Center of the New York Healthcare System. The Purchasing Agent is responsible for the acquisition of medical supplies, services and equipment for patients of Network 3 Prosthetics with medical hospitals located in NY, Brooklyn, St. Albans, Northport, Bronx, Montrose, Castle Point, East Orange, Lyons and numerous Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC's).
Duties include but are not limited to:

Duties include but are not limited to:
- Purchasing a wide variety of medical, scientific, technical, and specialized supplies, services, and equipment;
- Providing assistance to examining physicians and therapists on prosthetic and prescription requests;
- Providing counseling regarding eligibility and entitlement for prosthetic services;
- Providing education to patients and caregivers on wheelchair assembly, usage, and care;
- Assisting in the administration of various medical programs such as: optical, durable medical equipment, hearing services/aid, and orthotic services;
- Reviewing complex purchasing requests for a wide variety of prosthetic and orthotic devices, medical supplies, and durable medical equipment;
- Arranging follow-up examinations for patients who have received prosthetic and orthotic appliances;
- Authorizing the replacement of fitted appliances and administering the prosthetic repair program;
- Placing orders for patients in the Home Oxygen Therapy Program;
- Maintaining records in compliance with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO);
- Reviewing and certifying vouchers/invoices for compliance to contract cost;
- Entering prosthetic requests and clinic appointments into computerized systems, and
- Performing other related duties as required.
