Management company of Jamaica Private Power Company, is seeking a highly talented individual with significant experience as a: PAYROLL CLERK

Reporting to the Chief Accountant, the Payroll Clerk is responsible for maintaining the payroll information for both the fortnightly and the monthly non-management payrolls using the requisite payroll software, collecting and verifying timekeeping information for all employees, calculate pay according to hours worked, incorporating leaves and overtime, inter alia.

Duties include:
  • Update paper and electronic payroll records by entering adjustments on pay rates, employee status changes
  • Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, and non-taxable wages
  • Prepares ad hoc reports to provide for analyzing overtime, inter alia and for resolving payroll

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Three (3) years as a payroll clerk or having responsibility for preparing and maintaining payroll
  • Solid knowledge of the relevant legislations/regulations/policies governing payroll calculations and preparations
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Analytical and report writing skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
