Technical Assistant (Kingston, Jamaica) - Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture & Fisheries

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries is inviting suitably qualified person to fill the position of: TECHNICAL ASSISTANT (SOG/ST 5) in the Jamaica Dairy Development Board.

Job Purpose:

Under the direct supervision of of the Farming Systems Specialist, the Technical Assistant - Farming Systems, collects and collates on-farm data for the determination of farm efficiency levels; codes information and maintains a record of data to facilitate analysis; observes farm operations and makes recommendations for corrective action.

Key Outputs:

On-famr data collected and collated

Information coded for easy reference

Records maintained

Recommendations made for corrective action regarding substandard farm operations

Reports prepared and submitted

Key Responsibility Areas:

Management/Administrative Responsibilities

• Visits farms, observes operations and makes recommendations for corrective action with a view to improving efficiency levels
• Collects and collates on-farm data
• Codes information
• Maintains farm records
• Submit reports of findings to the Farming Systems Specialist

Minimum required Qualifications and Experience:

• Associate degree/diploma in Agriculture/Food Sciences

Salary range: $1,164,662.00 - $1,384,417.oo per annum.
