Summary

A medical laboratory requires the services of a qualified candidate to fill the post of Phlebotomist. The incumbent will be responsible for performing a variety of duties involved in the collection of blood and other sasmples from patients for laboratory proceduresused in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Core Functions:

1. Register patients using laboratory information system and collects fees
2. Perform blood drawing procedures to include venipuncture
3. Make appointments and visit home patients and offices
4. Maintain inventory of supplies

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Ability to effectively work in a team environment with minimum supervision
• Strong analytical, administrative, time management and problem solving skills
• Proficiency in the use of computer application software
• Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills
• Flexibility and versatility to operate in a demanding environment
• High level of professionalism and confidentiality
• Computer literate

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• Five (5) CSEC passes including Mathematics and English Language
• Certificate/Diploma in Phlebotomy
• At least three (3) years experience in Phlebotomy
• At least one (1) year supervisory experience

Special Requirements:

Must be:

• Flexible and willing to work on a shift basis
• Available to work Ssaturdays when required
