NMIA Airports Limited (NMIAL), operator of the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Airports Authority of Jamaica (AAJ), currently has employment opportunities for suitably qualified persons for the position of:

Aviation Security Assistant

This position resides in the Aviation Security (AVSEC) Department which undertakes regulatory aviation security duties at the Norman Manley International Airport.

Scope of Responsibility:
Incumbents are required to monitor airport security activities including, but not limited to;:
  • Surveillance of airport via closed circuit television (CTV) and other security systems
  • Security checks and quality assurance routines, and recommend corrective measures
  • Monitor activities of contracted security guards deployed on the airport
  • Initiate discplinary actions for security breaches as necessary
  • Prepare reports on security matters
  • Maintain security system database
  • Participate in the development/revision of standard security operating procedures
  • Assist in the delivery of security training


Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
  • A diploma from a recognized tertiary institution
  • Aviation Security (AVSEC) basic 123 certificate (specialized in-house training programme)
  • Experience in security administration
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Competent in report writing
  • Effective time management skills
  • Effective problem solving and decision making skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possess a valid general driver's license (3000 cc, standard transmission)
  • Possess a clean police record
Note: Despite the required qualifications shown above, each applicant must pass a prescribed Entrance Test and Training Course as well as background check.
