Floor Supervisor (Kingston, Jamaica) - Hi-Lo Food Stores

To direct and oversee the operations and performance of Store Associates (performing merchandising), working closely with Category Management, Customer Service, Marketing Departments, and External Sales Representatives to maximize product availability within the store; to manage the warehouse, making sure all the goods received are stored properly, and brought to the sales floor as required.

Principle Responsibilities:

• Adhere to all government and company sanitation, health and safety regulations, including items affecting cleanliness of the store and safety of customers
• Supervise Janitors and Store Associates (performing merchandising)
• Ensure that Store Associates are properly attired, sufficiently knowledgeable and adhering to company regulations
• Train new Store Associates in merchandising and treatment of goods on the shop floor and interfacing with the warehouse
• Oversee the actions of external merchandisers
• Ensure Shelf Edges and products are priced correctly, and conduct regular price audits
• Monitor bad merchandise/spoilage and expired goods. Ensure these products are removed from shelves promptly.
• Ensure return to shelf is completed throughout the day to avoid an unsightly pile up at the tills or in unattended baskets and trolleys.
• Responsible for price changes and keeping management informed of pricing problem areas or discrepancies
• Manage inventory to minimize over-stock, under-stock and shrinkage losses due to expired goods.
• Keep all merchandise rotated in accordance with store policy and product code dates taking care to pull all expired merchandise
• Oversee the stocking of shelves and displays, and ensure that products are stacked in accordance with height regulations
• Ensure that shelves and products are clean and free of dust at all times, and that glass doors in display cases, fridges and freezers, entrance and exit doors are clean and spotless at all times
• Ensure that floors are clean, dry, and safe at all times, and aisles clear of obstacles at all times
• Oversee all customer-related promotional programmes in the store; ensuring that signage is present and correct; that all signage and promotional materials are removed after promotions are ended and current prices placed on items
• Ensure that all featured promotional items are prepared in accordance with Marketing and/or Category Management guidelines.
• Check merchandised products for quality, count and condition
• Assist customers in retrieving items from inaccessible areas or in obtaining products that are either located in warehouses or that they may have difficulty in handling.
• Provide assistance to customers as required
• Notify Store Manager when Sales Representatives need to be contacted to pick up spoiled and damaged goods.
• Take positive action to control pilferage losses, and write-offs (especially of World Brands, Hi-Lo and Facey products), and any other brands for which Hi-Lo absorbs the losses)
• Perform other duties and assignments as directed
• Assist in the training of Store Associates in merchandising as directed by the Store Manager.
• Review Negative Stock Report on a daily basis, making sure that corrective action is taken
• Full knowledge of the In stock status of all A type items, with a view to ensuring these products are always in stock
• Ensure all purchasing strategies are put in place in a timely manner in order to achieve the desired results
• Report to the Purchasing Department any issues related to stocks, pricing, deliveries and external vendor complaints.
• Perform any other job related duties which may be assigned from time to time.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Associates Degree
• At least five (5) years working experience in a retail or warehousing environment.
