The Kenora Jail seeks a driven and organized individual to provide receptionist, keyboarding, general clerical and financial services for the institution.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
• Provide receptionist and receptionist services by receiving and rerouting calls, taking messages and answering general inquiries
• Provide typing and general clerical services including formatting, photocopying and distributing various materials
• Prepare, distribute and receive all incoming/outgoing mail
• Arrange travel and prepare travel warrants for released inmates
• Maintain a filing system
• Provide financial services by processing accounts payable
• Initiate canteen order sheets and verifying funds for inmates
• Enter and code data on staff overtime and hours worked in a spreadsheet
• Perform transactions and daily reconciliation of inmate cash float in absence of the Accounts Payable Clerk
• Monitor inventory of office and institutional stationary supplies and replenish and receive supplies as required

How do I qualify?

Administrative Knowledge and Skills

• You have knowledge of office administrative practices and procedures and keyboarding in order to provide clerical services
• You have the ability to acquire knowledge of ministry, institution and office policies and procedures and guidelines in order to perform reception duties

Other Essential Skills:

• You have knowledge of financial administration and arithmetic in order to calculate and reconcile accounts and invoices
• You have demonstrated communication skills to provide reception services
• You have demonstrated courtesy, tact and diplomacy to provide information to the public and staff

Computer Skills

• You have proficiency and skill with word processing, spreadsheet, email and internet software, as well as good keyboarding skills
• You have ability to operate various office equipment such as fax machine, printers, photocopiers, computers and a multi-line telephone switchboard
