Duties

Provide visitor services and revenue collection at entrance gateways, information/visitor centres, campgrounds, kiosks and on park area grounds to enhance the visitor experience.

Work environment

Located in northern Ontario, Pukaskwa National Park is a vast, wild, natural playground found on the edge of the world’s largest freshwater lake. At over 1800 km2 in size, it is a place where powerful waves collide with rugged, towering coastlines; a place of endless sunsets over sandy driftwood beaches. A place where everyone can catch a glimpse of the rich traditions, values and contemporary life of the Anishinaabe, the local Indigenous people. Intent of the process

This process may be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures ( permanent or temporary vacancies), security levels or linguistic profiles in same or other parts of the country.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
Degree equivalency
Experience in interacting with the public in a reception/orientation capacity
Experience in anticipating/meeting public needs, and resolving complaints, anticipating/detecting incidents and finding solutions
Experience in handling cash and operating point of sales
Experience in maintenance of facilities

Knowledge of Parks Canada operations and the natural and cultural history of Pukaskwa National Park
Knowledge of services, programs, visitor services operations and fees of Pukaskwa National Park
Knowledge of the operation of automated cash and related computerized applications used to provide cashier services, prepare sales reports, compile statistics and register reservations
General knowledge of visitor experience prevention guidelines

Make moderate physical effort to sit and stand for prolonged periods and/or to clean facilities/grounds
Be exposed to variable weather conditions
Be exposed to noxious odours from exhaust fumes and cleaning products; exposure to dust and wet conditions.
