Do you have strong technical skills and an ability to provide effective group leadership? If so, consider this opportunity to join our Ontario Parks team.
• provide group leadership for a variety of technical and operational duties as well as monitoring responsibilities for the successful day-to-day operation of non-operating parks
• assist with resource management projects
• perform administrative duties such as correspondence, ordering equipment and supplies
• ensure facilities and equipment are properly maintained
• assist in the preparation of operational plans and reports
• perform compliance duties as a Provincial Park Warden in regular operating, non-operating and backcountry provincial park settings
• undertake inventory and monitoring and reporting of Flora/Fauna, species at risk, invasive species
• You have a valid class “G” Driver's Licence or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario.
• You have valid Emergency First Aid Certificate.
• You have the ability to be designated as a Park Warden and complete Ministry certification criteria and standards in Use of Force.
• You have the ability to obtain Pleasure Craft Operators Certificate.
• You have the ability to obtain Ontario Recreational Canoe and Kayak Association (ORCKA) Basic Canoeing Level 2.
• You have demonstrated experience and knowledge of park management and planning principles.
• You have knowledge of biology and ecology including conservation biology and biodiversity.
• You have knowledge of data collection and analysis techniques, and the use of electronic data collection equipment including global positioning systems and geographic information systems.
• You are able to operate various equipment and vehicles (e.g. all-terrain vehicles, canoes, boats, trailers and motors) and travelling safely in remote locations.
• You possess group leadership and interpersonal skills to provide direction to park staff by conducting training, assigning work, explaining work methods, and monitoring performance.
• You have knowledge of computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentation creation.
• You have organizational skills to organize own workload to ensure assignments are completed within established time frames.
• You possess analytical skills to determine urgency and priority of matters/inquiries/processes and to plan appropriate actions based on knowledge of subject matter and Ontario Parks objectives.

How do I qualify?
Mandatory Requirements:
• You must be able to work shifts, weekends and statutory holidays as per schedule.• You have a valid class “G” Driver's Licence or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario.
• You have valid Emergency First Aid Certificate.
• You have the ability to be designated as a Park Warden and complete Ministry certification criteria and standards in Use of Force.
• You have the ability to obtain Pleasure Craft Operators Certificate.

Technical expertise:
• You have a strong knowledge of resource management principles, techniques and legislation• You have demonstrated experience and knowledge of park management and planning principles.

• You have knowledge of data collection and analysis techniques, and the use of electronic data collection equipment including global positioning systems and geographic information systems.
Building and equipment knowledge and skills:
• You possess general building maintenance knowledge and an ability operate and maintain a variety of equipment (e.g., chainsaw, brush saw, hand tools).• You are able to operate various equipment and vehicles (e.g. all-terrain vehicles, canoes, boats, trailers and motors) and travelling safely in remote locations.
Communication and supervisory skills:
• You have strong communication skills to address complaints, clarify and explain matters to various stakeholders, the public and park visitors and to effectively deliver compliance messages.• You possess group leadership and interpersonal skills to provide direction to park staff by conducting training, assigning work, explaining work methods, and monitoring performance.
Important knowledge and skills:
• You have knowledge of the work planning process, procurement and budget allocation process.• You have knowledge of computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentation creation.
• You have organizational skills to organize own workload to ensure assignments are completed within established time frames.
