Duties

Provides generalist, multi-function human resources support services within the Parks Canada Agency.

Work environment

Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada's outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.

Thunder Bay is situated along the north shore of Lake Superior, home to the picturesque Sleeping Giant peninsula. Intent of the process

This process may be used to create a pool of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels or linguistic profiles in same or other parts of the country.

Your résumé.

A covering letter in 1,500 words (maximum) "Applicants must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter how they meet the Education and Experience criteria listed in the Statement of Qualifications (see below). Applicants must list both of these factors in their cover letter, and then write one or two paragraphs for each demonstrating how they meet these factors by providing concrete examples. Please note that it is not sufficient to only state that these factors are met or to provide a listing of current or past responsibilities. Resumes will be used as a secondary source to validate the experience described in the cover letter."

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Completion of a minimum of 2-years of a post-secondary program in an administrative field (i.e. Business Administration, Commerce, etc) OR an acceptable combination of education and experience.
Preference may be given to candidates who have a degree in Human Resources or other discipline relevant to the duties of the position.
Degree equivalency
Signifiant experience in providing administrative support services in human resources.
Recent* experience in using various management information systems and software programs (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Power Point, email, electronic databases).

*Recent experience is defined as having been performed as part of your duties within the past 12 months.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience in providing administrative human resources services in the Federal Public Service.
Experience in using human resources data management software
