EDUCATION:
A secondary school diploma or a satisfactory score on the PSC test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience

Degree equivalency

BUILDING SERVICES TECHNICIAN OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Completion of a Certificate or Diploma program, or apprenticeship accreditation program leading to qualification as a:
• Building Services Technician, or
• Building Systems Technician, or
• Facilities Technician, or
• Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Technician, or
• Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning Technician, or
• An acceptable equivalent combination of relevant Building Trade, Technician, Technologist, and/or stationary engineer qualifications

MILLWRIGHT OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:

Possession of a valid Provincial Certificate of Trade Qualification or Inter-provincial standard (Red Seal) Endorsement as an Industrial Mechanic/ Millwright or related trade such as metal fabricator, machinist and/or heavy duty equipment technician.

BUILDING SERVICES TECHNICIAN EXPERIENCE:
Experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of Commercial and/or Institutional building systems such as:
• Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems;
• Boilers;
• Compressors; and/orWalk-in coolers and freezers,
Experience operating a variety of specialized maintenance tools, and equipment, including test equipment required for the operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems and equipment.
Experience with the use of various computer software programs such as: Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

MILLWRIGHT EXPERIENCE:

Experience installing, operating and maintaining commercial or institutional equipment/machinery such as:
• Compressors;
• Walk-in coolers and freezers; and/or
• Metal working equipment, machinery, and tools.

Experience interpreting construction plans, equipment schematics, specifications and maintenance manuals.

Experience working with Computer Maintenance Management Systems, Building Automation or Management Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
Experience performing any of the following relevant functions to the duties of the position:
• Simple metal work and metal fabrication, such as basic welding, brazing, soldering, cutting, grinding and bending
Experience working in a correctional, industrial or institutional environment

MILLWRIGHT EXPERIENCE:

Experience with Oxy/Acetylene, SMAG and AC/DC welding and cutting equipment.

Experience troubleshooting system failures and malfunctions to initiate or propose solutions.

Experience installing, operating and maintaining commercial or institutional equipment/machinery such as:
• Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems;
• Boilers;
• Gate operators and locking mechanisms

Experience working with Computer Maintenance Management Systems, Building Automation or Management Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).

Experience performing metal work and metal fabrication, such as basic welding, brazing, soldering, cutting, grinding and bending.

Experience working in a correctional, industrial or institutional environment.
