A firm based in Kingston & St. Andrew is looking for a Legal Assistant to work in its Legal Department.
Job Description

To provide legal, secretarial and administrative support to Litigation Attorneys.

Responsibilities include:

Interfacing with clients; drafting legal documents; preparing draft letters; preparing court bundles and organizing Attorneyʼs diaries.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of secretarial work experience in a law firm, inclusive of two (2) years work experience in a litigation department particularly in the field of Debt Collections, Recovery of Possession and Personal Injury. 
  • Detailed knowledge of civil court procedures in the Parish Court, Supreme Court, and Court of Appeal; 
  • A strong work ethic, the ability to work on own initiative, maintain confidentiality and to organize, prioritize and multitask; 
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; 
  • Keen attention to detail; 
  • Good inter-personal skills; 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; and 
  • Proficiency in MS Word & Excel and Outlook. Any one or more of the following qualifications will be accepted: Certification in Paralegal Studies, Legal Secretarial Diploma, Diploma in Secretarial Studies or Certified Professional Secretary Designation.
