The Rehabilitation and Maintenance Branch is responsible for establishing standards and policy for highway maintenance contract administration and monitoring compliance to ensure value for money. The branch conducts operations research and development to ensure that state of the art expertise is retained in the ministry. It provides direction on the management of ministry equipment and materials and co-ordination of bridge inspection and maintenance. In addition, it establishes standards, coordination and maintenance on behalf of the ministry in the following areas: highway maintenance contracts; regional and district operations; pavement marking; electrical maintenance; radio services; avalanche control; and rock slope stabilization.

The Maintenance Contract Coordinator plans, organizes and coordinates the administration and procurement of highway maintenance contracts, pavement marking contracts and electrical maintenance contracts for the Province of British Columbia. The position also provides ongoing administrative and technical (with respect to systems technology) support to Maintenance Programs; and is carried out with relative independence. An organized worker, you independently manage your own workload while taking into consideration changing priorities, tight deadlines, volume of work and available resources.

Qualifications:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
  • Three years’ experience in contract administration and procurement.
  • Experience interpreting and applying procurement and administration policies, procedures and processes.
  • Course work in contract administration; preference may be given for any course work successfully completed in the Province’s Procurement and Contract Management Program (PCMP).
  • Experience preparing, tendering and awarding service-based contracts.
  • Equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and/or training outlined above.
  • One year experience using databases and/or spreadsheets, word processing, web and SharePoint administration, and other standard computer applications;
  • Experience conducting research and analysing data and preparing reports on a variety of topics (e.g., unit cost analysis, inventory, winter maintenance and materials).
  • Experience providing both administrative and financial support services.

    Preference may be given for the following:
    • Experience with multi-vendor/multi-million dollar contracts.
    • Experience posting to BC Bid.
