Junior Compliance Specialist

About the Opportunity
We are seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to fill the position of Junior Compliance Specialist. The position is responsible for monitoring and providing business support on a variety of complex regulatory and legal procedures. This position performs complex compliance analyses, anti-money laundering risk assessment and regulatory analysis in order to monitor customer transaction activities and support business operations. The Junior Compliance Specialist administers the department's automated monitoring tool, Audit Command Language, a key system which aids the Bank in meeting its transaction monitoring and reporting obligations.

Job Category: Supervisory

• Serve as administrator for the Bank's automate monitoring tool, Audit Command Language.
• Write and review for improvements, monitoring scripts used in transaction monitoring.
• Conduct data analyses to identify trends in customer transaction activity.
• Assist in the analysis of the company's regulatory compliance posture and the development of control recommendations.
• Keep abreast of regulatory changes.
• Prepare reports on an ongoing basis to fulfill the reporting requirements of the Bank under the Proceeds of Crime Act,2007.
• Review Internal Suspicious Transaction Report assigned, and prepare suspicious transaction reports in keeping with stipulated standard and timeline.
• Follow up with Compliance Analyst to ensure transactions are reviewed to meet reporting deadlines.
• Field calls from branches for review and guidance on transaction processing.
• Apply and release restrictions to accounts in keeping with enhanced due diligence procedures.
• Correspond with the designated authority as needed in the monitoring and reporting of transactions.

Required Academic Qualifications and Experience

• BSc degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
• At least five (5) years working experience in the J.N. Group or similar financial institution.
• Working knowledge of money laundering laws and regulations in Jamaica, UK, USA, Canada and Cayman.
