Duties
Greet visitors and provide information and orientation related to facilities, services, programs, features, regulations, safety precautions and protection objectives, in person, by phone or electronically. Schedule group and individual visits.Respond to visitors' needs by providing advice, information and assistance on other national parks, historic sites and marine conservation areas in the surrounding area; respond to visitor complaints.
Register, issue licences/permits and refunds and sell products. Maintain cash balances, records and stock inventory; compile and record statistical data; complete forms, sales reports and bank deposits; and use a point-of-sale system/computer system.
Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of grounds and facilities, report supply deficiencies and maintenance requirements; may maintain equipment, such as audio-visual equipment.
Contribute to the visitor experience through the course of work; remain attentive to park conditions and environments to detect incidents and undesirable situations (e.g. inappropriate visitor behaviour, damage to heritage resources); report situations to park authorities (e.g. supervisor, higher level of prevention competence, park warden, police service of jurisdiction); advise visitors and assist with possible solutions (e.g. friendly reminders, formal notices); record and document incidents.

Once fully established, Rouge National Urban Park will be one of the largest and best protected urban parks of its kind in the world, spanning 79.1 square kilometres in the heart of Canada's largest and most diverse metropolitan area, overlapping the cities of Toronto, Markham and Pickering and the Township of Uxbridge.
Rouge National Urban Park (RNUP) is a new type of protected area in the Parks Canada family – a national urban park. While it shares many of the characteristics of other protected areas, the park has been specifically created because of its urban setting and its mix of natural, cultural and agricultural resources and landscapes. 20% of the Canadian population lives within one hour from the park.
Intent of the process
