Summary of Duties:

Reporting to the Senior ATIP Advisor and with the support and guidance of more seasoned Officers, the ATIP Officer is responsible for the application of the Access to Information and Privacy Acts, the provision of ATIP services, and various other activities relating to the management, release and disclosure of sensitive information under the control of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC).

The ATIP Officer is also responsible for providing information on Information Security Initiatives.

Essential Qualifications:

Language Requirements:

Bilingual imperative : BBB

Education:

• Bachelor´s degree from a recognized university, OR an acceptable combination of education (minimum college diploma), relevant experience and knowledge.

Experience:

• The administration, interpretation, application and enforcement of the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act, or other Access to Information legislation (at any level of government);
• Negotiating with management, staff, other government institutions, stakeholders and/or members of the public;
• Conducting research, analysis and interpreting information relevant to ATIP requests in order to provide comprehensive advice and recommendations to management, staff, stakeholders, licensees and members of the public;
• Working with databases such as ATIPflow, ATIPimage, AccessPro Case Management or AccessPro Redaction.

Knowledge of:

• The Access to Information Act;
• The Privacy Act.

Abilities:

• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

• Experience working with a records, documents and information management system such as RDIMS or CDIMS.

Hiring Conditions:

Candidates must meet and maintain the following hiring conditions throughout their employment.

Secret
This position requires a Canadian Secret Security clearance. The security clearance is a basic hiring condition and normally requires that you have ten (10) years of verifiable personal background history. History that cannot be verified may be grounds for denial of clearance.

Mobility: All CNSC employees are subject to the Mobility Assignment Program and may be transferred to a different work unit or geographical location due to operational requirements.
