This position is part of the Defense Human Resources Activity, Defense Human Resources Activity. The incumbent will be responsible for performing general clerical support and office automation work. Responsibilities
As a Student Trainee (Office Automation Clerk) at the GS-0399-3 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Compose routine correspondence from brief notes and oral instructions.
Maintain office files according to established functional filing systems.
Provide routine information and refer phone calls to appropriate staff members.
Follow established correspondence formats, assuring proper number of copies, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Open and distribute mail to office staff.

Student Program Eligibles in the Alexandria, VA local commuting area. To be eligible for this position, you must: Be a U.S. citizen; Be at least 16 years of age at the time of appointment; Be enrolled (or accepted for enrollment) in an accredited educational institution; Be enrolled at least half-time as defined by your educational institution; and have at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) at the time of appointment and throughout the duration of the internship. Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-03, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-03 grade level in the Federal service:
Knowledge of office activities and procedures
Knowledge of office filing systems
Knowledge of software, procedure and office automation OR
B. A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of
credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time
study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain
your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter
hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet
the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by
a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such
education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or
