Job Summary

The Midwife will perform normal obstetrical deliveries and routine duties including ante-partum, intra-partum and post-partum care.

Qualifications

• Training as evidenced by possession of a recognized certificate in Midwifery
• Must Possess current registration as a Midwife
• Must satisfy the requirements for Registration with the Nursing Council of Trinidad and Tobago

Responsibilities

• Receives patients upon admission, prepares patient for deliver room and performs normal obstetrical delivery
• Administer medicines and injections
• Make home visits
• Performs related duties as assigned

Educational requirements

• Knowledge of the principles, practices, techniques and equipment used in obstetrics
• Knowledge of sub-professional nursing theory and practice, sanitation and personal hygiene
• Ability to maintain a sympathetic attitude towards patients
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with other employees and the public
• Working knowledge of hospital rules and regulations
• Must be a critical thinker
