  Join the team! This position is located in the Division of the Secretariat within the Office of the General Counsel. The Office of the General Counsel provides advice and legal counsel to the Commissioners and the organizational components of the Commission on matters of law arising under the Acts administered and enforced by the Commission, related statutes, and any other statutes or regulations pertaining to the functions of the Commission.

  Responsibilities

  The incumbent is responsible for:
  

  • Receiving telephone calls and visitors to the immediate office.
  • Solving routine matters on the basis of knowledge of programs or operations.
  • Determining items that require personal attention of the Director and senior staff.
  • Screening incoming correspondence, reports, and instructions.
  • Maintaining controlled records on incoming correspondence.
  • Maintaining calendar, scheduled appointments with or without approval , based upon the Director's interest and commitments.
  • Preparing travel request and vouchers.
  • Providing timekeeping, daily attendance, and MIS reporting activity.
  • Monitoring conditions of office equipment, requesting repairs when necessary.
  • Serving as the Property Officer for the Division.
  • Performing a variety of other tasks in support of the management of the office.

  Qualifications

  Applicants must have one year of specialized experience that prepared them to do the work defined in this position.
  The specialized experience must be fully described in the duties section of your resume in order to receive credit.
  
  Qualifying specialized experience: Entering and tracking Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Privacy Act (PA) requests in an automated system; interpreting regulations and organizational policy regarding administrative and program issues to provide advice and guidance on well-precedence issues; responding to customers’ requests regarding organizational policies, procedures, and/or regulations; and maintaining electronic systems of records.
