  Responsibilities

  
  

  This position will allow you to use your expertise in administration to provide substantive clerical support to CBP management. Apply for this exciting opportunity to strengthen the Department's ability to protect the homeland by analyzing and refining existing work methods and developing new methods and procedures. This position starts at a salary of $40,896 (GS-07, Step 1) to $53,169 (GS-07, Step 10) with promotion potential to $53,169.00 (GS-07, Step 10).

  In this position, you will strengthen the Department's ability to protect the homeland by joining a valuable team of administrative professionals. Typical work assignments include:

  • Assisting in one or more administrative support areas which include budget, logistics and procurement, human resources, and records and files management
  • Using various software packages such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Developing, maintaining, and preparing reports and office records

  Qualifications

  GS-7: You qualify at the GS-7 level if you possess one year of specialized experience that included duties such as coordinating administrative requirements with offices served, maintaining contact with offices having primary responsibility for administrative programs and obtaining the most up-to-date information on procedural requirements, assisting with routine administrative matters, maintaining databases, identifying trends or patterns, and compiling narrative/data reports.

  
  Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
  
  You must meet all qualification requirements, subject to verification at any stage of the application process by 10/16/2017.

  Residency: If you are not currently a CBP employee, you must meet one or more of the following primary residency criteria for at least three years prior to applying to this announcement:
