Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Work is performed outdoors, often under adverse weather conditions.
Work requires frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, working in cramped positions, and climbing.
Work requires lifting and moving heavy items.
Work requires exposure to high noise levels.
Must be able to wear personal type safety equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Selectee must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
Work other than normal duty hours, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Work may be at a job site or location other than a permanently assigned location.
May perform shift work.
Work overtime and/or be "called back".

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Mechanic without more than normal supervision performing duties such as: Using measuring instruments such as pocket rules, hook rules, flexible and semi[flexible rules, compasses, and other had measuring plans and patterns to perform sheet metal work; assembling parts by seaming, bloting, screwing, riveting, tacking, spot-welding and soldering; using one or more manual welding processes, for example, a gas welding process such as oxyacetylene or oxyhydrogen, and an arc welding process such as gas carbon-arc or gas metal arc, to weld parts made of commonly used metals; making welds to meet specifications, and to assure proper penetration and freedom from pockets, scales, or other defects.
