Caribbean Producers Jamaica Limited, a leading distribution and manufacturing company located in Montego Bay is actively searching for a dynamic, performance-driven individual to fill the role of Human Resources Assistant for our HR department.
The HR Assistant reports to the Human Resources Director. The HR Assistant provides administrative support to the department and assists in the coordination of various HR programmes and operational support activities. S/He carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, departmental development, benefits, organization development, payroll processing and employment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Deals with queries from internal and external customers.
- Handles all incoming calls in prompt, professional and efficient manner.
- Provides relief assistance for the front desk operations.
- Co-ordinate, order and issue birthday tokens.
- Create and organize HR calendar.
- Maintains the BambooHR database and generates scheduled or requested reports.
- Maintains employee information by entering and updating employment and status-change data.
- Tracks employees attendance records e.g. vacation, personal, maternity, sick or compassionate leave.
- Update HRIS database records and process paperwork for new hires, terminations and other status changes.
- Maintains a database of employee contact information.
- Prepares letters as requested by employees’ e.g. bank letters, embassy letters, recommendation letters.
- Assists in maintaining of employee handbook and new personnel policies and procedures.
- Maintains employee personnel files and file papers and documents into appropriate employee files.
- Assist HR director with various research projects and/or special projects.
- Periodically audits the database to ensure accuracy. e.g. leave balances etc
- Prepares cheque requisitions for housing allowances.
- Maintain records of all incidents as well coordinate payment to doctors, pharmacy etc.
- Provides payroll information by collecting time and attendance records.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or its equivalent.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a similar capacity.
- An up-to-date knowledge of Jamaica's labour laws and regulations.
- Advanced computing knowledge especially Microsoft Office suite.
- Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interface with all levels of staff.
- Ability to organize, plan and use own initiative.
- Should be meticulous, reliable and able to handle stressful situations.
- Strong understanding of employment law.
