    Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

    About the Position:
    These positions in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the ST-APF-WDGW99 15TH MI BN MIB AE AUG.

    These positions are located in the U.S. Army INSCOM, 116TH MI Brigade (AI) and 15TH MI Battalion Office of the 15TH AEB at Fort Hood, Texas.

    Responsibilities

    Serves as Family Readiness Support Assistant (OA) for the 15th Military Intelligence Battalion Office performing a variety of clerical and administrative duties and resolves problems in support of the Commander, Family Readiness Group (FRG) Leaders and volunteers, as it pertains to Family Readiness.
    • Maintains awareness of Family Readiness activities within the unit and updates the Commander on the program status, controversial issues and service available to Service members and their family members.
    • Assists with coordinating. reviewing ad maintaining records of brigade and/or battalion Family Readiness inspection programs and reports findings to Commander.
    • Works closely to Army Community Services (ACS), Army Family Programs and Unit Services Coordinator to maintain up-to-date in latest Family Readiness Programs and referral programs.
    • Provides assistance with the preparation of correspondence, newsletters, flyers, rosters and requests.
    • Establishes and maintains the Unit's Virtual Family Readiness Group (VFRG) and Army Knowledge On-line (AKO) websites.
    • Assures proper safekeeping, storage and destruction of unit Family Readiness records, Army regulations and policies, and computer output.
    • Reviews past allocations and use of Family Readiness appropriated funds and recommends utilization based on information gathered.
    • Maintains regular telephonic/electronic contact with Family Readiness Group (FRG) leaders, Rear Detachment Commanders (RDCs) and Army Community Service (ACS)/Family Programs staff for up to date information on Family Readiness activities and issues.
    • Works with Family program agencies to schedule and coordinate briefings, orientations and workshops on Soldier and Family readiness issues.
    • Works with ACS and other Family program agencies, major subordinate commands and units to recruit and maintain an active volunteer force.
    • Publicizes changes and updates relating to well-being programs to include health benefits, Family benefits and education, and other information promoting unit esprit de corps and wellness.
