The Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals (OMHA) has announced that Hurricane Irma will affect operations at the Miami Field Office on Thursday (September 7) and Friday (September 8). A state of emergency has been declared for Miami-Dade County and OMHA has determined that for the safety of the public and employees, the OMHA Miami Field Office will have limited operations on Thursday and Friday. If a provider is participating in a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge in the OMHA Miami Field Office scheduled for those days, please call the Administrative Law Judge’s legal assistant for the status of your hearing. OMHA has instructed providers that if they are unable to contact the legal assistant (for example, the call is answered by a voicemail message system) and they are not contacted prior to the hearing, please assume the Thursday or Friday hearing is not being conducted and will be re-scheduled for a later date. Hearings that are not conducted Thursday or Friday due to the weather event will be re-scheduled when the office resumes normal operations. Providers will receive notification of the re-scheduled hearing date.
