Summary
The selectee for this position will serve as a Mail Clerk at the Official Mail Center (OMC), NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Naval Weapons Station (NWS) Earle, Colts Neck, NJ. The OMC is a division of the Supply Department and the designated hub for all federal agencies at the NWS Earle complex. As a Mail Clerk, the selectee will be responsible for receiving, sorting, metering, consolidating, processing, and forwarding of all incoming and outgoing official mail for over 30 organizations from the U.S. Postal Service as well as alternate couriers from FEDEX/UPS/DHL and delivery services to selected activities throughout the NWS Earle complex. Responsibilities
The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
Performs various duties involving the control, processing and delivery of incoming mail.
Determines mail routing by tenant commands and department codes.
Operates an automated Mail Arrival Tracking System through the use of facility Microcomputers, portable palm
pilots, or similar devices, and bar-code scanners.
Receives, reviews, and controls all Accountable mail and associated records.
Classifies, meters, and sorts outgoing mail to ensure proper distribution for delivery via FEDEX, UPS, or U.S.
Postal Service.
Travel Required
Occasional travel - Selectee may be required to travel up to 5%

Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
May be required to successfully complete a probationary/trial period.

Requirements:
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
Active duty military members MAY apply under this announcement. If selected, appointment eligibility requirements must be met prior to the effective date of appointment.
Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final secret level security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Selectee must possess and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
Must be able to wear personal type safety equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. For the GS-05 Level your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04/next lower grade level or equivalent pay band in the federal service, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Creditable specialized experience includes most or all of the following: (1) Process and handle mail by applying general policies and regulations; (2) Deliver correspondence and mail; (3) Process mail by operating automated systems; and (4) Complete and maintain records and files. You may also qualify by having successfully completed four years of education above high school level. OR possessing a combination of education and experience. You must send transcripts to support qualifying using education.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of general experience equivalent to the GS-03 grade level or equivalent pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Creditable general experience includes progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position. You may also qualify by having successfully completed two years of education above high school level. OR possessing a combination of education and experience.
