This is a military technician position with the US Army Reserves. Becoming a Military Technician allows you to experience the best of two worlds by taking advantage of the opportunity to become a Citizen Soldier in the US Army Reserve Military Technician program. This enables you to receive full civil service benefits and military reserve benefits. Military Technicians are a vital link between the US Army Reserves and civil service and are one of the most important keys to combat readiness.
About the Position:
This position is with the 79th Sustainment Support Command, 451 Expeditionary Sustainment Command located in Wichita, Kansas.
· Unloads and sorts mail, checks for accountability and proper delivery point.
· Loads and unloads vehicle with mail (i.e., envelopes, parcels, etc.) weighing up to 50 pounds (UPS packages - may weigh up to 120 pounds) and delivers to offices on the installation.
· Receipt of official mail from a Contract Postal Unit for delivery to an Official Mail Distribution Center.
· Sort and classify official mail according to location, organizational functions and office symbols.
· Establish and observe established time schedules and follows prescribed mail routes
· Complete vehicle log book trip reports and accident reports.
· Practice safe vehicle operation by obeying speed limits, and state and local traffic laws and regulations.
· Schedule preventive and general maintenance on vehicles and complete vehicle issue/turn-in inspections.
· Prepare daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, ensuring that accounts are accurate and balanced.
Travel Required
Occasional travel - The business travel requirement is 10%
This position requires membership in the US Army Reserve (USAR)

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using the knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations and standard operating procedures to sort incoming and outgoing mail, route incoming mail and distribute to various distribution points. Check addresses and other data on mail for proper format and conformance with postal standards. Resolve problems with originating office. Receives, records, redirects, and processes all misaddressed mail, personal, official, and accountable mail. Operate a government sedan, large truck or pickup in pick-up and delivery of mail. Perform operator maintenance and fills out necessary forms associated with operation of the vehicle. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
