Summary
The selectee for this position will serve as a Legal Assistant in the Legal Assistance Department of the Regional Legal Service Office at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling of RLSO NDW WASHINGTON DC. Learn more about this agency
Responsibilities
The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
* You will maintain centralized appointment calendar for attorneys; independently schedules in-person and remote appointments through computerized office appointment system.
* You will interview and screen prospective clients for eligibility to receive legal assistance services.
* You will create physical case files, with intake sheets and any needed additional documents such as Will Worksheets, Dual Representation Forms, and Remote Appointment Authorizations.
* You will ensure all client case file information is correctly recorded and maintained on electronic case management databases.
* You will return calls and messages, process all incoming and outgoing mail and mail logs, manage supply request, and perform miscellaneous administrative duties.

Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
May be required to successfully complete a probationary/trial period.

Requirements:

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume is the key means we have for evaluating your skills, knowledge, and abilities as they relate to this position. Therefore, we encourage you to be clear and specific when describing your experience.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: . : 1) Maintaining a centralized appointment calendar and scheduling appointments; deconflicting attorney and client schedules. 2) Creating case files and utilizing Will worksheets, Dual Representation Forms, and Remote Appointment Authorizations. 3) Answering phones and responding to all messages. 4) Providing notary assistance, drafting Power of Attorney (POAs), preparing subpoenas and discovery, and legal assistance services 5) assembling and mailing correspondence, filing and retrieving files, assist with ordering supplies.
