    About the Position:This is a permanent position with Headquarters, US Army Corps of Engineers, Office of the Chief of Staff. This position is located at the Government Accountability Office (GAO) building, 441 G. Street, NW, Washington, DC 20314-1000.
    Management may select at any of the grade levels announced. This recruitment provides promotion opportunity to the target grade of the position without further competition when selectee is eligible and recommended by management.  Also, this position is being announced under announcements NCFL172402482008550D and NCFL17240248201068R for the GS-09 full performance level.  If you wish to be considered, you must apply.

    Responsibilities


    Duties will be performed in a developmental capacity under close supervision at the GS-7 level.  Incumbent works under closer supervision and works in a developmental capacity performing assignments and completing training, both of which are aimed in preparing the incumbent to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the duties outlined in the aforementioned job description. The incumbent receives progressively more responsible assignments as experience and training are received to the next higher level position. 
    Duties described below reflect the full performance GS-09 level.
    • Manages the various administrative processes within the office and ensures that procedures meet office needs and are consistently understood and followed by the staff.
    • Establishes and continually reviews, updates, and develops complex administrative office procedures. Performs a variety of duties in support of Chief of Staff (CoS) and Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS).
    • Receives telephone calls and visitors coming into the office in using tact, diplomacy, and judgment, ascertains nature of calls and business of visitors.
    • Maintains Chief of Staff continuity files and ensures they are compliant with applicable regulatory guidance.
    • Coordinates personnel, manpower, and related management actions in support of CoS annual personnel performance evaluations and awards.
    • Maintains CoS calendars and appointment/meeting schedules.
    • Coordinates and arranges various meetings and conference events in the local area.
    • Prepares agendas for meetings and conferences, and accurately documents and publishes summary of minutes from meetings and conferences.
    • Prepares travel orders, makes travel and lodging arrangements, and arranges and coordinates schedule of visits.
    • Composes and prepares a variety of correspondence, reports, records, briefing materials, and statistical and narrative material required to support the CoS and DCS missions.
    • Uses office automation applications to produce a wide range of documents into final form from own composition, brief instructions, or rough draft from other staff members.
    • Uses database or spreadsheet applications to enter, revise, sort, and retrieve data for reports.
    • Reviews and evaluates special projects and action items coming into the office.
